Since its founding in 2017, Enpal has been digitizing and revolutionizing the purchase of green energy for a home independent of fossil fuels with its rental model and flexible, payment-free purchase option. More than 70,000 households in Germany already produce their own electricity with Enpal – and several thousand new energy systems are set up every month.

The company has been using the Lanes & Planes travel platform for its business trips since March 2022. We spoke to Arne Kuchenbecker, Head of Travel at Enpal, about the collaboration with Lanes & Planes and the benefits it has brought for the team.

 

 

Before: Too many channels and manual processes

Arne describes the booking process in the past as “adventurous”. Before Lanes & Planes, the team handled bookings via many different channels. Hotel bookings were particularly time-consuming: The hotels were researched via Google, contacted by phone, tthe assumption of costs was clarified and this cost coverage was manually sent back to the hotel by email. Trains, on the other hand, were booked directly with Deutsche Bahn. It quickly became clear that this system was not scalable for Enpal as a fast-growing company. So the search for a reliable travel management partner began.

 

Easy transition & convinced employees

The decision was quickly made in favor of the digital travel platform from Lanes & Planes. The implementation of the new system was no problem at all for Enpal. Lanes & Planes provided active support right from the start: with a dedicated account manager and an implementation manager who was always available to answer any questions.

When introducing new tools, large companies often face certain challenges, explains Arne. There are always people who don’t want to get involved with new systems. But even these people were quickly convinced of the advantages of Lanes & Planes – and today they would not want to go back to the old system under any circumstances.

With the practical comparison function from Lanes & Planes, travelers always have the opportunity to find the best option for themselves – whether it’s a flight, train or bus. Users can filter by the fastest or cheapest means of transportation and immediately see which is the best choice for them.

Another important added value for Enpal is the centralized billing model. Lanes & Planes takes care of everything: collecting invoices, ensuring that the invoice is correct, and processing the payment. Everyone benefits from this: travelers have very little to do with the invoice anymore, and Enpal’s accounting processes have become much more efficient as a result.

The introduction of Lanes & Planes was a real game changer for Enpal. This is also evident in day-to-day business: the team was able to reduce the time spent on administrative tasks by more than 80%. This means that a task that used to take an hour is now completed within 10 minutes. Accounting processes in particular have become significantly leaner and more efficient.
